The story felt like a delicious puzzle to get stuck into and I found myself getting my notebook out to jot down ideas, very much like one of the characters in the book. The relationships between the three women is one of the best elements of this series and it was great seeing Posy coming into her own as the latest Dahlia. And can only hope that one day the author would consider writing them for real 🤞🤞🤞🤞) the writing is good and you become drawn into the story straight away.

It gave nostalgia, it gave golden era detective sleuthing, and it gave anything an Agatha Christie fan would enjoy. Overall, A Very Lively Murder is another mysterious, amusing, enjoyable treat by Watson that had just the right amount of suspicious personalities, zany antics, and abundance of drama to keep me engaged and entertained from start to finish. Rosalind is coming to terms with now being reduced to cameo roles and Caro is thinking about a future outside of acting.I'm not sure how much longer the conceit can hold, and I'm not sure how interested I'll be if these shift to being One Dahlia mysteries instead of Three, but I'm definitely planning to give the next one a shot.

Like all good crime stories, this brings something of an edge into its glossy golden age tinted spectacles with the secrets that are unravelled. There's celebrity drama, discussion of discrimination and abuse of women in the film industry and it culminates in a locked room murder mystery in atmospheric Tŷ Gwyn (the White House) during a storm. It was lovely to see Posy really coming into her own and being the leading Dahlia in the story as well as in the fictional world of Dahlia Lively.Katy Watson is the most perfect scene setter, so much so that I felt like I was at Ty Gwyn solving these murders myself. There wasn't a whole lot of character development with the Three Dahlias, although we learned a bit more about Rosalind. I would argue that even the name of the book is selected incorrectly - what makes this a lively murder? It's always a little nervewracking heading into the second book of a series when the first book set the standard so high but I needn't have worrried, we are in safe hands here.

A famous model turned actress, Keira Reynolds-Yang, has just arrived and is receiving a great deal of attention.

By the time we reach the final act revelations, we have grown with the characters and the potential for the series going forward is incredibly exciting. Katy Watson was able to keep me on my toes and I did not guess the culprit with plenty of twists along the way.

I really liked the atmosphere the book created with the North Wales setting and brooding weather conditions. We are also trying to tackle a pretty heavy subject here, where an old actor used to drug and rape young actresses. But filming must continue, nothing can stop it until there is a victim, a wild storm that strands them all and the possibility of another murder about to take place.This a great cosy murder mystery very much in the vain of Agatha Christie which i have always loved and now have a new favourite with Katy Watson. This book is the second in the series with the promise of the third instalment just around the corner so fans of the first book can enjoy this book knowing there’s even more to come. It was lovely to see Posy really coming into her own and being the leading Dahlia in the story as well
