Mainly the fact that he could classified them so easily into the different colours of psychopathic traits ironically contradict his earlier statement inferring that the classifying psychopath is impossible. In addition, the way he attempted to differentiate psychopath with normal people is just that they are not remorse with their doing, however psychopathic traits tend to be measure in degree rather than a clear binary distinction between psychopath and people who are normal. It then goes on to suggest how a psychopath manipulate the different colours, which is strange because the earlier part of the book the author was very concerned about the psychopath who wanted to take advantage of the personalities traits of the different colour but now wrote a manual on how to do it. Although I suspect that some may argue that the knowledge provided by the author serve as a means to know how to prevent being manipulated, but It is one thing to learn to defend and another to learn to offend. I don't need to teach someone how to shoot a gun to prepare them to protect from gun violence.

When the department head had finished his story, tears were running down his cheeks. It was terrible to see. the examples given, which are often if not all are unable to verify its authenticity and tend to claim as real life examples. This gives reader an impression that psychopath are really everywhere and real, which is not necessarily true. Most people could be categorized on a Basics of DISC Language, in colors of red, yellow, green and blue. The color association matches with behavioural categories based on William Marston’s theories and consists of four main types: red for dominance, yellow for influence, green for stability and blue for compliance. And the most interesting actualization in this book showcases the fact that psychopaths are colorless! They would camouflage themselves into any color of the other person or “victim”, to embody them, mind, body and soul. This act of false display, is charming, it lets them enter their victims’ lives with open arms as they manipulatively take over for their own sole benefit.

I wonder if a lot of the people giving this book a one star are psychopaths attempting to keep this information out of the hands of the average empath. Because when an empath can more easily spot manipulative behavior and then pushes through the fear to draw healthy boundaries, psychopaths lose their victims! 😛🙃 When these are added up, the common population scores under 15 points, 15-20 shows concerning tendencies, 20-30 is likely a psychopath, and 35-40 is a definite. Try scoring yourself and colleagues.

More often than not, the advice to those being manipulated by a psychopath is to get out of there, which is not always possible. The behavior categories I use, in that first book as well as in this one, are based on William Moulton Marston’s theories and consist of four main types of people, each of which is associated with a color: Red for dominance, Yellow for influence, Green for stability, and Blue for compliance. The following chapters provide an overview of what the colors mean in practice. These categories are a tool that can help answer many (but not all) of our questions about how people function. Erikson, Thomas, 1965-, Surrounded By Psychopaths: How to Protect Yourself From Being Manipulated and Exploited in Business (and in Life).

I am going to explain how to recognize a psychopath, how to recognize people with psychopathic traits, and most importantly I will show you what you can do about psychopaths. a"#1 internationally bestselling author Thomas Erikson shows readers how to identify and avoid the psychopaths around them. Erikson outlines some of the most common forms of manipulation used by psychopaths--and others--to influence those around them. Surrounded by Psychopaths has some great examples of how people manipulate each other and how we are fooled into being manipulated by others. It also categorizes people in four different colors which are red, yellow, green, and blue. Hyväuskoisen ja sinisilmäisen härmäläisenkin on hyvä tunnistaa niitä tavallisimpia manipulointikeinoja, joita myös psykopaatit usein käyttävät: Erikson, Thomas, 1965-. 2020. Surrounded By Psychopaths: How to Protect Yourself From Being Manipulated and Exploited in Business (and in Life). Some people are exceptionally manipulative. Ehkä olisi pitänyt lukea ensin Idiootit ympärilläni tietääkseen enemmän ihmisten luokittelusta neljään eri värikategoriaan, mutta onnekseni olen maailman selkein (sininen) tapaus, joten tämä puute ei paljoa vaivannut. The bad news is that you can’t really escape them. But here comes the good news: you can beat them at their own game. But hang on a moment, you might be thinking. Psychopaths are serial murderers and violent criminals. Most of these maniacs are obviously in prison. The author also classified psychopathic traits into the different colours, except for the blue because they are too meticulous (again another passing remark with no basis). However, this attempt really undermine the psychopathic traits that the author has been trying to establish in the earlier chapters. And the list goes on. The purpose of all these techniques is to wear you down and cause extreme mental stress. It is clear within this book is that we are ALL open to manipulation, or to manipulate others. Whilst is the agenda of a psychopath, you don’t need to have that type of personality to be subject to, or the cause of manipulation. However, the “barrier” or counter-measure to this is clear communication, standing your ground and consistency. Erikson uses examples within the book on how that could look, but a simple, emotionally “No.” can be a great start. Think about what your personal and professional boundaries are, so they are obvious to you should a Psychopath start to try and push them.
