The Desert boot, on the other hand, is fitted with a crepe sole. These types of soles are comfortable to wear for long periods at a time and they also deliver excellent traction on dry ground. However, they can be slippery in wet conditions. Arch Support: These boots do not have much arch support, so they might not be the best choice for people with foot problems or who need extra support.

Our guide will take a closer look at Clarks Bushacre vs Desert boots to help you make the best decision on which will suit you. Leather requires a “breaking-in” phase. This period can be hard on sensitive feet. You can assist the process by using a leather conditioner or a shoe stretcher. Learn everything you need to know in our article on how to stretch leather boots. The Bushacre boot features a rubber sole that provides you with a dependable grip, even in wet, slippery conditions. Rubber soles are also more weather-proof and a good choice for wet climates. But as the years progressed, shoe technology became a little more advanced and folks started t o shy away from the simple crepe rubber sole. Both the Clarks Bushacre 2 and the Clarks Bushacre 3 are classic, casual men’s boots that are popular for their comfort, style, and versatility. Let’s look at some of their advantages and disadvantages to see which one may be up to your liking. And because the rubber is harder, you’ll experience less pressure on your heel when walking. That said, the sole isn’t as spongy, so if you stand in one place for a long time, it can become uncomfortable. Which Boot Should You Get? Many brands make desert boot-style footwear. However, it was first designed by Clarks. Nathan Clark was stationed in Burma along with the British Army during World War II, he was inspired by the shoes off-duty officers wore. Another difference is the sole. The Clarks Bushacre 2 has a crepe sole, which is made of a soft, spongy rubber material that is flexible and provides good traction. The Clarks Bushacre 3 has a rubber sole, which is more durable and provides better traction on slippery surfaces.

The Desert Boot features a crepe rubber sole, which is a more “old-school” method of making rubber. Basically, it’s made from layering rubber sap, so you end up with a light and spongy sole. The fit and sizing of the Clarks Bushacre 2 and the Clarks Bushacre 3 may vary slightly, as it is common for different shoe styles and brands to fit differently even if they are made by the same manufacturer. That being said, both the Bushacre 2 and the Bushacre 3 are generally known for their comfortable fit and true-to-size sizing. Oddity: The “Clarks” logo embossed at the heel. The other competitors don’t have that. Could be a deal breaker for some. The Bushacre boot features a stitch-down construction that’s strong and can withstand years of use and abuse. Furthermore, the stitching does provide the Bushacre boot with the ability to keep out rain and snow. The Desert boot is available in leather and suede, whichever you prefer. One question that’s often asked is whether the boot is made of genuine leather or synthetic—Clarks claim to use only real leather. The leather is so pliable that there isn’t much of a break-in period to speak of. Besides the heel slip issue I mentioned above, the Bushacre 2 is comfortable straight away.

With pull up leather, creases appear after just a few steps. This lends a rustic charm to the boot, but makes it a hard sell if you need a boot for anything formal. This boot is very simple—the upper is attached to the sole by a single stitch around the welt. Because there are only two eyelets, this boot is easy to slip on and off, so it makes for a great casual footwear option. Leather Quality and Care Overall, users have been satisfied with their Desert boots; however, they do have a “breaking-in” period that might be tough on sensitive feet. The runner up Bushacre 3 also has a removable multi-density Ortholite insole, but it’s a more basic unit with no zone mapping tech and no leather topper. The “Originals” Desert Boot has a burgundy ¾ length leather insole that’s glued down to the support board/midsole. This piece of leather is essentially just decorative because there’s no real cushioning here, but the foam heel pad is a nice touch. The Bushacre 2 technically also has a ¾ length fabric insole that’s glued down, but it’s thinner than your Hanes t-shirt. Does that even count? Quality leather. Not super high end, but it is full grain and has a nice two-tone effect from the oils and waxes. These are an instant patina machine so if you want an aged look without having to put in months of effort, these are great.

The Desert Boot 2 and the Bushacre 3, being the newest models in Clark’s stable, have removable foam insoles which make a HUUUGE impact on comfort as compared to the older styles. The top tier Desert Boot 2 has a leather topped Ortholite footbed made from multi-density, breathable foam with a unique outline that Clarks claims to be from gait mapping technology to help target the cushioning for improved posture and more comfortable walking. Considering the price, this sole is decent. I’m not blown away by it, but it’s definitely durable enough to last for a year and a half to two years of consistent wear. Fit and Sizing The Clarks Originals Desert Boot is the classic chukka style that simply goes with every outfit. This particular boot is in Beeswax color, which is dark brown with light accents.

Leather is a durable and long-lasting material that is resistant to wear and tear. It is also water-resistant, which makes it a good choice for wet or rainy conditions. Leather also has a polished, formal appearance, which makes the Bushacre 2 a good choice for more formal occasions. The Desert boot was designed to be worn regularly and is known for its long lifespan. Similar to the Bushacre, this boot also features a stitch-down construction. Depending on the material, it does offer a certain degree of waterproofing. There is no secret with this boot that comfort is key. The box and tags are adorned with branding for the “Extreme Comfort System” and even the midsole has been rebranded as the “Comfort Chassis.” If you’re used to pricy Goodyear welted boots constructed with layer after layer of vegetable tanned leather, you might find the foam unstable underfoot. Finally, the Clarks Bushacre 2 and Clarks Bushacre 3 are both comfortable, stylish, and durable casual men’s boots that are well-known for their versatility. The main distinctions between the two are their style and fit. The Bushacre 2 has a more classic, traditional appearance, whereas the Bushacre 3 has a slightly more modern, streamlined appearance.Related: How to Wear Chukka Boots] The Bushacre 3 (left) vs the Desert Boot (right) Clarks Bushacre 3 vs Desert Boots Keep in mind, these aren’t work or hiking boots. They’re designed for everyday use, whether it’s casual or a special occasion. As usual, this is a fresh out of the box fit test and my first impressions. Unfortunately, I can’t wear all of these in for months to see how they evolve. I do recall my old “Originals” getting better over time, though. I suspect that all of these will feel looser as they break in, so take that for what it’s worth. The Bushacre boot includes a cushioned insole and a comfortable lining. Although this boot doesn’t feature any next-level technology for comfort, the lining and insole will keep your feet feeling good throughout the day.
