Again, Radio probably does the most right here, with a stable, breathing guitar reminiscent of Green Day’s ballads where Charlie Simpson’s more brash, unpolished vocals are allowed to project some greater emotionality, something that would benefit this album a lot more if that was a more regular occurrence, rather than James Bourne and Matt Willis desperately trying to replicate the nasal goofiness of turn-of-the-millennium pop-punk that, in all honesty, hasn’t aged the most gracefully. They wrote more material than ever, much of it at Bourne’s apartment in North London where they spent so much time together back when they first started the band.

They have written more material than ever before, with much of it penned in Bourne’s North London apartment, which also happens to be where they spent a lot of time together when they first formed the band in 2000. They also get a little bit more autobiographical than we’ve heard before such as on early stand out What Happened to Your Band, which charts the band’s initial split. The track "What Happened to Your Band" was previously performed live by one of James Bourne's other bands, Son of Dork back in 2007. Today Busted release new album Half Way There and it moves away from the cooler, synth-pop feel of Night Driver and revisits the rebellious punk-pop hybrid the band explored on their first two albums. With 10 songs on the tracklist, Half Way There isn’t a particularly lengthy album and those 10 tracks rarely do much to distinguish themselves from each other either, ranging from guitar track to slightly slower guitar track so that the album blurs into a vaguely catchy whole if you play it in full. They spent a year working on it and the result is a rush of melody and effervescent riffs as they blend huge arena-filling choruses with a classic pop-punk sound.

Busted are a totally schooling in lazy formulaic songwriting in ‘Half Way There’ and sometimes it’s funny and sometimes it’s charming but mostly it’s just annoying. Where once Busted would be singing about fancying their school teacher in ‘ What I Go to School For’, now they’re heading back to school 10 years later in ‘ Reunion’, an upbeat record with plenty of punchy guitar riffs that hones in on the idea of catching up with old friends. Nineties’ is one of the tracks which will claim a place alongside other Busted favourites such as ‘Year 3000’ and ‘Crashed The Wedding’. Reunion’ sounds like it’s probably the single, as it also doubles as a way of letting people know the band are back together despite the songs actually being aboitba sixth form reunion. In the edit page, go to the 'Metadata' tab and add your Juno artist, label or release page for listeners to purchase your release / releases.

When the band Busted are mentioned it’s often hard to overlook their pop-enthused radio-friendly rock hits of the early 2000s which dominated the airwaves and captured an entire generation’s hearts.
